Well, this sucks. Rick Santorum plays fantasy baseball. He’s even good at, I guess, depending on how good the other guys in his league are: In the last fifteen years of playing in an AL-only league, he’s won seven times. I was really disappointed when I read this, because for a second it made me feel something close to affection for Rick Santorum, in that way you do when you find out someone is the same kind of nerd you are.
(fangraphs) (there’s also this confusing MSNBC video of Rick Santorum “playing” in an 1870s style baseball game in urbandale, iowa)

In my opinion, this kind of “gift guide” is what makes This Fits a class act. I’m proud to call him a friend.

This Fits 2011 Holiday Gift Guide
It was unusually cold last Sunday when I walked into church and took a long look at the collection box we’d set up for a local coat drive. Feeling the chill cutting through my suit, it was heart-breaking to think there are people out there who are unable protect themselves and their families from the elements.
So the next time I came to church, I brought something with me—a vintage, “made in the USA” London Fog coat with a warm zip-out liner. I’d been meaning to flip it on eBay or take it to the tailor, but instead it’d been hanging neglected in my closet.
Someone else certainly needed it more than me. I added it to the pile.
Predictions say the 2011-2012 winter season will be “brutally cold.”  If you have a coat or jacket that’s been sitting in your closet for months, please donate it at a local coat drive.
Don’t have a coat to spare? Consider last year’s gift guide instead.

“You (Kim Thayil of Soundgarden) hurt me deeply,” Corgan says, touching the giant S on his chest and pouting. “You hurt me deeply in my heart.” The Pumpkins go on to play the best set anybody has ever heard them play, their usual passiveness and precision overlaid with an unfamiliar scrim of anger that throws their music into brilliant relief.

Friday Night Pregunta

Which is the more entry-level chillwave song?

  • Standing Outside a Broken Phone Booth with Money in My Hand (Primative Radio Gods); or
  • Angry Johnny (Poe).

Not to influence your decision, but J Dilla provided drum programming on the 1995 Poe record.
