Decoder Ring - “Beat the Twilight” (2009)
All I know about this group is that they hail from Australia and have been fairly prolific soundtrack composers. This song would easily feed my mid-2000s Saxon Shore addiction, and at the same time it kind of chugs along like an instrumental version of “Everlong” if it were reimagined by an overly-ambitious The Fire Theft. After seeing about a dozen and a half psych, psych-folk (note: the new funk and funk-rock) and beardo bands this past weekend, this tune cleanses the palate nicely. Plus, look at that horse!
